Dear Our Lady of Mount Carmel Families,
As I write this, I am happy to say Catholic Schools Week was a huge success here at OLMC. It was great to celebrate our school with many different theme days such as, Disney Day, Back to the 80's Day and our Winter Luau. We concluded the week with a school mass and annual 8th grade vs Faculty Volleyball Game in our gym. This was all part of Celebrate America Day in which we celebrated our great country to conclude the week.It was truly an AWESOME week. Today we begin the Lenten Seasonand begin our path to the most solemn day on the church calendar, Easter Sunday. We celebrated Ash Wednesday Mass as a community together today and begin our commitment to keep our Lenten promise to our Lord, as we eventually will walk with Jesus on his path through his eventual Death and triumphant Resurrection. We are also somber and keep in our prayers the twelve schools who have found out that they will not be re-opening their doors this fall. We keep those families in our thoughts and Welcome any of these new families to look into Mount Carmel and promise to welcome them with open arms into our building if they so choose. Now more than ever our Catholic faith must be the bedrock of our very foundation. We at Mount Carmel have worked hard in the face arguably the greatest challenge faced by any generation in recent times. Teachers, Parents,Staff and Students have come together to continue the great tradition of Catholic Education here at Mount Carmel in the face of a two and a half year long pandemic. We have perservered together and it has made our family stronger and forced us to be better. The teamwork shown by all those collective groups is what made us succesful and allowed us to persevere. We did it together! I am so proud of what we have accomplished since March 17,2020. I am so proud of the hard work and dedication of our teachers and staff, the patience and thankfulness of our parents and the courage and strength of our wonderful students, but our work continues and we now focus on our future and the futures of our wonderful students. We are mindful and more vigilant, but we enjoy again many of the daily happenings that we once took for granted. As we move toward Spring, we again continue upgrading in the area of technology. We have recently purchased a new round of chromebooks and charging carts and are on course to have a cart with new chromebooks for each individual class by next fall. This was a goal we are close to accomplishing in partnership with the assistance of our Pastor Father Felix. This is a vital piece of our plan to ensure our students success in the future. We are in the early stages of planning and designing a new state of the art computer room to replace our current computer room. Again, this will assist our students with getting ahead in the area of Technology and prepare them for both what lies ahead in high school and college. We are again up and running in our quest to build up our Art and Music Program with programs such as Piano and Guitar lessons and a fantastic Art Club that was headed by an outside vendor for our students who show a true passion for Art or Music. These programs were all free to your children through our Zankel Donor Grant. Our Basketball program was back and successful highlighted by both our Boys and Girls Varsity finishing in the CYO Final Four of their respective grade levels. We are excited to be planning our first Card Party in four years on May 6th and the return of our Drama Club which will be performing Godspell this Spring. Exciting things are happening again here at OLMC and we are always striving for more. I also remind you that we are here for you and your family with whatever assistance we can offer. We are but a phone call away. I ask that we continue to work hard and be vigilant to ensure that our children stay happy and healthy. The children are our greatest gift and we must do all we can to provide them with any resources at our disposal to ensure their success. We are hopeful that you also choose to continue to send your child to OLMC for the 2023-2024 school year. We are happy to have you as part of our special family and hope you continue to put your faith in Catholic Education and Our Lady of Mount Carmel. May God Bless you and Best of Luck to all our students and teachers on what God willing will be a strong ending this school year as well as a smooth and successful transition into the 2023- 2024 school year.
Regards and Blessings,
Mr. John Musto, Principal
