On Election Day, OLMC students voted in their 1st Student Council. Eleven Students ranging from Grades 5-8 will represent the student body and work with Mr. Musto to lend a Student Voice to the day to day happenings and events at OLMC.An Executive Council ( President, Vice-President & Secratary were elected, as well as Eight Senators (2 from each grades 5-8) All elected members officially took the Oath of Office in front of the entire Student Body on November 9th following morning prayers. The first immediate task for our new Student Body was running a Thanksgiving Can Food Drive which benefited The Mount Carmel Church Food Pantry. Over 1000 cans were collected to benefit the needy of our community. Great Job Boys and Girls.

On Monday 3/28 the Archdicese of New York universally celebrated a Day of Prayer for those tragically affected by the War in Ukraine. OLMC held a Prayer Service on the behalf of the victims in Ukraine and also through private donations and a Dress Down ( Blue and Gold) raised over $500 that will be presented to The Ukrainian Congress of America. These funds will be allocated to purchase essentials for those suffering the hardships of War in country of Ukraine. Thank You to all those who contributed and participated. Also,Thank You to Mrs Maresca for all her hard work on our beautiful prayer service.
The Our Lady of Mount Carmel Family has rallied together to raise over $1500 in cash contributions for the victims of the tragic January 9th fire at the Twin Parks Apartments in the Tremont section of the Bronx. The heart and generosity of our school has shown through as it always does. We keep the families and victims in our prayers. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Pray for them.
To celebrate CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK 2020, Our Lady of Mount Carmel ran a service project to help build a library at local St Barnabas Hospital. That effort resulted in the collection of over1000 books. The project led by Ms. Paula Castillo ( 6th grade ) and Ms Roseann Manna ( Kindergarten) was covered by many news networks including News 12, NY1 and Telemundo. It was a huge success and a source of great pride to our Mount Carmel family. HUGE THUMBS UP!
On October 30th our Kindergarten Classes enjoyed an early Halloween Treat by visiting The Belmont Library and Enrico Fermi Cultural Center. A fun time and some story telling made for a GREAT TIME right here in our Belmont Community. Thank You Ms Manna and Mrs Draughon for setting up this wonderful experience for our children
